Rytas Vilnius Teams Up with Gelbėkit vaikus – Fighting for a Happy Childhood

2025 m. April 04 d., 16:33

Rytas Vilnius continues its social mission Together Against All, and this April the team will compete not only for victories on the court but also for children for whom a safe environment can be just a dream. Basketball is more than a game – it builds a strong community, inspires, and gives hope that every day can be better. This month, fans are invited to join Rytas Vilnius in supporting the Gelbėkit vaikus mission, helping our youngest future champions.

During all home games in April, a portion of ticket sales will be donated to children for whom a safe and happy childhood is not a given. This is just one way to contribute. Throughout the month, a special auction will also take place, allowing fans to purchase Rytas Vilnius game jerseys, with all proceeds going to the organization, which dedicates its time and care to this noble mission. Every contribution – whether buying a ticket, participating in the auction, or donating via SMS – makes a fan a hero and reinforces that kindness is everyone’s greatest victory.

“Rytas Vilnius fans have repeatedly shown that they are part of a community, a big family where no one is left out. As a club, we feel a responsibility not only toward our athletes and supporters but also toward those for whom even our smallest gesture can be the best gift in life. Children are our future – future scientists, artists, athletes, and champions – so we want to give them as many opportunities as possible to grow up in a safe environment, with a childhood full of joy and support,” said Rytas Vilnius Director Jaroslav Latušinskij.

Gelbėkit vaikus has operated in Lithuania for over 30 years, ensuring that every child has the right to grow up loved, safe, and cared for. The organization supports families, children’s day centers, and children who have experienced violence or lost their homes.

“Caring for emotional health is like daily hygiene. Emotional skills begin forming in childhood, so the earlier we introduce children to emotions, the easier it is for them to recognize, express, and regulate their feelings,” said Gelbėkit vaikus General Director Laura Milčienė. “It’s important for adults to speak openly about emotions as well. When children see and hear trusted adults discussing feelings, they understand that everyone experiences emotions – and that’s normal. When visible, respected people talk about children’s emotional health, it has a greater impact – changing societal attitudes and creating a healthier, more open environment for growing up.”
