Rytas battles in the FIBA Champions League – now on LRT

From November, LRT, the official broadcaster of the Lithuanian national basketball team games in FIBA tournaments, will air another FIBA competition – the FIBA Champions League – featuring one of Lithuania’s strongest clubs, Rytas Vilnius.

“This partnership is another step in giving basketball fans in Lithuania the opportunity to watch high-level sports competitions live and without barriers,” said Gytis Oganauskas, Deputy Director of LRT.

Darius Gudelis, Chairman of the Board of Rytas Vilnius, also emphasized:

“For the past few years, we have watched with admiration the growing quality of LRT’s sports broadcasts, and at the same time, we wanted Rytas games to be publicly accessible to Lithuanian basketball fans. According to Spinter research, only 22% of residents in the Vilnius region are not interested in the national sport. It is logical that the national broadcaster would show as much quality basketball as possible. In turn, we aim not only for victories on the court but also to introduce viewers to the everyday life of the team, usually hidden behind the cameras.”

The new agreement will be valid for two seasons and marks another important step for LRT. The partnership will allow not only the broadcast of Rytas Vilnius games in the Champions League but also provide more insight into the team, its preparation, and the basketball community in Lithuania.

Rytas Vilnius will play its first FIBA Champions League game on October 7, hosting Warsaw’s Legia at home.
