Rytas Vilnius officially announces changes to the roster. Long-time captain Gytis Radzevičius is leaving the club. After Baskonia paid his buyout fee, the forward is moving to the EuroLeague.

Appreciating the player’s loyalty and contributions, Rytas decided not to stand in the way of his career. According to Sports Director Artūras Jomantas, this move was expected given the player’s progress.

“It is both sad and joyful. Gytis grew into an elite player here, so interest from EuroLeague clubs was always there. Although it’s hard to say goodbye to a captain mid-season, we are happy for him. It shows that our club is a great place for players to reach the highest level,” said Artūras Jomantas. “This was a mutual decision. We didn’t want to stop Gytis’s dream. I want to say a big thank you to Gytis for his heart on the court and wish him the best of luck. I am sure our paths will cross again.”

Radzevičius won two LKL titles with Rytas, became a fan favorite, and set a great example for young athletes. He spent seven years in Vilnius, starting with the reserve team.

“Gytis is a perfect example for our young players—he shows that you should never give up, just keep working hard,” added Jomantas. “He is a leader who leads by action, not just words.”

Saying goodbye to Vilnius, the player thanked the organization.

“I want to say a huge thank you to the Rytas family. Vilnius will always be my home, and representing my city was a great honor,” said Radzevičius. “I feel it is time to take the next step in my career. Thank you to the coaches, teammates, and especially the fans. Your support meant everything to me.”

Along with these changes, the club has good news: Rytas has agreed on a new contract with center Artūras Gudaitis. He will stay with the team until the end of the 2026-2027 season.

Gudaitis will also take on a new responsibility—he is the new team captain.

“Even with a good offer from abroad, Artūras wanted to stay, and we really value that,” commented Jomantas. “This season, we basically had two captains—Gytis and Artūras. It was very important for us to keep Artūras because of his strong leadership in the locker room.”

Rytas Vilnius is currently looking for new players to strengthen the squad. The club thanks Gytis Radzevičius once again and wishes him success in the EuroLeague.
