The capital club’s newest addition, Cassius Winston, has landed at Vilnius Airport. Arriving in Lithuania together with his family, the American guard was in high spirits and expressed that he is fully ready for the upcoming season.
„Feels good. Feels good to finally get here. Excited, excited about the year, the season and ready to get it going,“ the playmaker said shortly after landing.
When asked about Lithuania’s passion for basketball and playing in Vilnius, C. Winston emphasized the importance of the fans’ support:
„That’s going to be great. You know, I’m looking forward to getting in front of the fans and feeling that energy, getting out there and trying to put on a show and win some games.“
The player revealed that clear prospects influenced his decision to accept the club’s offer:
„I just knew it was a great opportunity. A great team, great city, all throughout Europe. So, I knew it was a great opportunity for me to come and be myself, and I’m really looking forward to it.“
The American plans to explore Vilnius not only through practices and games. Having arrived in the capital with his family, he plans to discover the local culture and food in his free time: „Maybe the food. I got my family here, so we’ll find some fun things to do just to get involved in the city, so we’ll see.“
However, when asked about traditional Lithuanian pink soup (šaltibarščiai), C. Winston admitted with a smile: „Yeah, I have. I’m scared. I’m a little scared. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little scared.“
In the coming days, C. Winston will join the team’s training camp to begin preparations for the upcoming season.
